Mark Goff, 36, of North Pine Street, Summit Hill, was critically injured late Thursday night in a one-vehicle crash in the White Bear section of Summit Hill. The crash occurred near 10:45 p.m. as the victim was traveling west on White Bear Drive, just east of the intersection with SR902. For some unknown reason his vehicle veered to the left, crossing the roadway entering the south berm, impacting with a number of trees before traveling down an embankment. The victim was extricated through the windshield of his vehicle by members of the Diligence Fire Company of Summit Hill. He was treated at the scene by members of the Lansford Ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being flown in a heavy rainstorm by the Penn Star helicopter. A short time later, Penn Star aborted the mission, returning to the Jake Arner Memorial airport in Mahoning Township. Goff was then transported by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center in Allentown. Summit Hill fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, shutting down the roadway for two hours. Summit Hill police are investigating the incident. Police said charges are pending the investigation.
