On Feb. 26, Cub Scout Pack 740, Coaldale, held its first Pine Wood Derby and Blue and Gold Banquet at the Knights of Columbus, Council 2711 building in Coaldale. Joseph Knat was the race official. Cub Scouts celebrate Scouting Anniversary Week in February with a "birthday party" called the Blue and Gold banquet. In nearly all packs, the blue and gold banquet is the highlight of the year. It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. Winners of the Pine Wood Derby are, from left Ethan Lapp, first place; Randy Fisher, second place; Zach Billson, third place; and Craig Conville, best of show. Cub Scout Pack 740 is led by Cubmaster Gary Royer, and Assistant Cubmaster Christopher Conville.
