Brockton man cited in Tamaqua

Published March 06. 2012 05:01PM

While on patrol in the area of West Broad and Nescopec streets Sunday just before 3 a.m., Tamaqua Police officer Thomas Duarte came across a black Dodge Ram truck on the sidewalk near the front of the American Legion on W. Broad St.

Upon further investigation it was learned that the truck was driven by Matthew Curvey, of Valley Street, Brockton, and struck a legally parked vehicle, owned by Darlene Kovach, on West Broad Street.

The truck continued east and ran over a parking meter while driving on the sidewalk then came to rest when the truck smashed into the memorial wall in front of the American Legion.

A driving under the influence (DUI) charge against Curvey is pending blood test results, police said. A photo of the accident scene appeared in Monday's TIMES NEWS.
