A late night fire Sunday has heavily damaged one of Schuylkill County's most popular eateries, Madeline's. The business, located at 1100 E. Market St., in Orwigsburg, received heavy fire and smoke damage to the second floor and attic areas of the two and one half story masonry structure. The first floor, the dining and bar areas, received heavy smoke and water damage. Smoke and flames were pouring from the building when emergency personnel arrived on scene. Firefighters from throughout Schuylkill County responded to the blaze which was first reported at 11:20 p.m. One spectator said he was told the restaurant closed early, approximately 9:30 p.m. East Market Street, and all nearby roads, were closed to allow water tanker trucks to gain access to the scene.
