Friends and firefighters held a Chinese auction and food sale recently at the Citizen's Fire Company to benefit the family of the late Robert "Bob" Smigo, who passed away unexpectedly on May 31. Robert was the son of Ruth (Williams) Smigo of Hometown and the late Robert T. Smigo Sr. Bob, a 1993 graduate of Tamaqua High School, grew up in Hometown, and was also a member of the Tamaqua Raider Band while a student. Robert was a supervisor at the Schuylkill County 911 Center in Pottsville. He served his community as an EMT with Tamaqua ambulance, and also served as a firefighter with the Hometown Fire Company and Citizen's Fire Company in Tamaqua. Debbie Huegel and other key volunteers stressed their appreciation to all who donated or helped.
