Arrest warrant for Monroe man

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Monroe County man for assault and other counts.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Tuesday, June 12, about 9 a.m. they and ambulance personnel were dispatched to 224 Zorn Terrace, Tobyhanna, for an assault. Officers were told that David Pinero, 29, of that address, got into an argument with his mother-in-law, Mary Thorne, 55, over milk.

Police further learned that Pinero forced his way into the bedroom of Thorne knocking her to the floor. She then pepper sprayed Pinero in the facing trying to get him away from her.

Pinero then grabbed Thorne and started choking her to where she passed out. Other family members struck Pinero behind the head with a skateboard in an effort to get him off the top of Thorne. Pinero then fled the home before the arrival of police. Thorne was checked by ambulance personnel at the scene and released, police said.

Pinero has been charged with two counts each of simple assault and disorderly conduct and one count of terroristic threats.

Police are seeking his whereabouts.
