Two inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI), 201 Morea Rd., in Mahanoy Township, have been charged in separate incidents.

State police at Frackville said inmate Hanif Chamber, 30, was been charged with aggravated harassment and disorderly conduct. Troopers said Chamber spit on corrections officer Sgt. Brian Gower, 22. The incident occurred about noon on May 18.

Inmate Yasheam Washington, 24, has been charged with weapons or implements of escape. Troopers said he was allegedly observed attempting to flush a weapon down a toliet. The weapon was retrieved and found to be a metal rod about six-inches in length with a cloth handle and the one end ground to a point. Troopers said the weapon is commonly known as a shiv/stabbing weapon.
