Community education/safety program set for Lehighton
Families are invited to the third annual Lehighton School and Community Education/Safety program which will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Lehighton Memorial Pool.
The event is sponsored by Lehighton Area School District, Title One Department and the Lehighton Pool.
This is a fun, free evening of swimming, food and activities all geared to young children.
The event is open to all Lehighton Area School District children and their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All unaccompanied children will not be permitted to participate in the planned activities.
The children and their families are allowed to swim free for the evening, while parents are encouraged to circulate among the stations throughout the pool grounds.
When parents have completed all stations, they will have the opportunity to win raffle items donated by local businesses and school organizations.
The goal of the evening is to bridge the gap between school and community by providing a free, educational/safety awareness program. There will be free hot dogs, snacks and drinks to all who attend.
In the past, 20 plus agencies participated and educated families. Topics ranged from early intervention services, occupational therapy services, preschool information, water safety rescue, bike safety, sunscreen awareness, suicide prevention, nutrition, self-defense, and how to maintain academic levels in all children throughout the summer.
Music will be provided by the Doctor from Penn's Peak Radio.
The hot dogs will be grilled by Lehighton Borough Council members and Lehighton Area School Board members.
