Brianna Handwerk to attend Keystone Girls State

Miss Brianna Handwerk, a Junior at Northern Lehigh High School, has been selected by Oplinger-Hower American Legion , Unit 899 of the American Legion Auxiliary, to attend Keystone Girls State.

This "Experience in Government" will be held at Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA, June 24-30 and is the 67th session sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.

About 200 girls are brought together through sponsorship of local Auxiliary Units and other organizations to study government on city, county and state levels.

During the week, the girls will elect city, county, and state officials, including Governor, Lt. Governor, other officers, and Outstanding Citizen. Two Senators will attend Girls Nation in the Washington, D.C. area during the week of July 33 -28, 2012.

Miss Handwerk is the daughter of Brian and Stephanie Handwerk of Slatington. She is active in Track & Field, Cross Country, Dance Team, Interact Club and is a member of SADD.

She is a member of Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary roman Catholic Church in Slatington.
