Five cited at Monroe carnival

Five persons were cited for drug counts and underage consumption of alcohol at a Monroe County firemen's carnival.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said at about 10:41 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, officers were patrolling the Pocono Mountain Volunteer Fire Department carnival in Mount Pocono when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked in a rear lot.

The vehicle, a small model Chevrolet sedan, contained six occupants. Officers made contact with the occupants and smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed two items of drug paraphernalia and alcoholic beverages. All the occupants were under the age of 21.

Arrested were Edwin Acevedo, 19, Karina Dangelo, 20, and Amanda Virasack, 18, all of Tobyhanna; Marie Ogrady, 18, of Long Pond; and Luisa Rodriguez, 19, of Blakeslee. All were charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol and for possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police did not name or indicate if the sixth person in the vehicle was charged.
