The threat of rain didn't stop visitors from stopping by the East End Park Thursday night to enjoy a free instrumental performance by the Cressona Band. The band, a non-profit organization, consists of musicians from all ages and parts of Schuylkill County and routinely holds performances throughout the county. The band is conducted by John F. Potlunas, with Dale C. Schimpf serving as associate conductor. For more information on future concerts, membership or to donate, visit them online via Myspace or by calling (570) 622-8784. "Despite being postponed and another chance of rain, the turnout was great," said Steve Ulicny, East End Playground Association President. "Their performance and talent provides and opportunity for residents to enjoy a beautiful evening in town." Ulicny stressed his appreciation to the band and sponsors of the event.
