Rare are the instances where individuals can receive health checks without a visit to their doctor.

What's more, those who attend the annual Health Fair at the Village at Palmerton are able to partake in the service of their choice free of charge.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26, and will include blood pressure screening, cholesterol screening, blood glucose screening, depression screening, diabetic foot checks and pulse oximetry, among other services.

Among the vendors scheduled to be on hand are Weston Rehabilitation; Carbon County Area Agency on Aging; Health Solutions; Department of Veterans Affairs; Arcadia Hospice; American Cancer Society; Blue Mtn, Next Step Acute Rehabilitation; Blue Mtn, OABU; Blue Mtn, Adult Day; Blue Mtn, Home Health; Blue Mtn, Labs; Blue Mtn, Wound; Blue Mtn, Black Lung; Blue Mtn, Summit; Bayada; Lehigh Valley Aging In Place; Lifestyles Over 50; and Aaron Healthcare.

On top of the screenings, visitors who come out to the event will gain a greater knowledge of all the facility has to offer, according to Norma Kunkel, director of marketing and admissions.

"We feel it's a great opportunity for our neighbors to come in to The Village at Palmerton, to gather information and education about the services available in our community, as well as have a few screenings done all in one convenient location," Kunkel said. "It's also a great opportunity for us to show our neighbors the services we provide as a Personal Care Home in our community."

The Village at Palmerton is an assisted and independent living facility that provides individualized personal care services that address the physical, social, and spiritual needs of each resident.
