A new addition to the Albrightsville Fire Company near Hickory Run is virtually completed.
A multi-layer, epoxy floor is being added to the garage area. The floor is the final stage of the project, said Fire Chief Bruce Berger.
The chief said the project had its groundbreaking in October 2010.
Last week, apparatus was removed from the garage of the fire station so the floor could be constructed.
Volunteers camped out overnight at the fire station while the apparatus was parked outside and the fire house garage doors were left open so the epoxy finish could cure.
The new floor is painted blue and orange, the color of the apparatus.
Berger said the floor is being constructed by Criterian Floor of Maryland.
The expansion project was made possible with a $200,000 state grant obtained from the Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development.
The work included a 64-by-50 foot addition onto the truck garage.
This addition added more bays, offices, a small recreation room for the firefighters, and some much needed space.
Berger said the fire company currently has a roster of 34 men and women volunteer fire fighters.
