Franklin Fire Department gets new truck

Franklin Township Fire Department has received delivery of a 2013 International/KME elliptical stainless steel tanker. The vehicle has a 2000 gallon tank and a 750 gallon per minute pump. The truck utilizes an International 7500 series chassis with a 350 hp diesel engine and automatic transmission. The majority of the truck was manufactured using aluminum and stainless steel. construction for long life. The truck is equipped with LED lights for long life and low maintenance. The truck was assembled by local workers at the KME plant in Nesquehoning at a purchase price of $269,384. Lynn Diehl, assistant fire chief, said the new vehicle replaces a 1983 Mack tanker that was taken out of service last fall because of mechanical problems.
