Two Schuylkill County men were jailed on Saturday, July 14, in two separate assault incidents stemming from domestic disputes. State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the incidents.

Troopers said about 5:30 p.m. Elizabeth Steine 51, and her husband, Edward Stine, 49, of 81 Spring St., Pottsville, Branch Township, became involved in a domestic altercation in the front yard area of their residence. Edward Stine shot a shotgun into the air in the presence of his wife and a friend, and made threats toward her and the friend.

Mrs. Stine went into the home and he followed. She was sitting on a couch when her husband pointed the shotgun over her head. She was able to get away from her husband after he proceeded to push her into a closet.

Stine was taken into custody by troopers and charged with aggravated and simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned before District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $10,000 straight cash bail.

The other incident occurred about 6 a.m. at the residence of John T. Kelly, 60, and Corrine R. Kelly, 21, of 40 High St., Pine Grove.

Troopers said Bradley S. Donton, 29, of Schuylkill Haven, arrived at the residence and a verbal argument began between he and Corrine Kelly. Donton then pushed her and in turn she pushed him back.

Donton then threw Corrine on to a couch and began punching her in the head several times before taking her to the floor. Donton then struck her twice on the back with a broom handle. Donton then pushed her several times and ultimately into a screen door on the front of the residence causing damage to the screen. Donton then chased Corrine Kelly through the yard and again threw her to the ground causing injury to her.

Donton was located at his residence a short time later and taken into custody. He was charged with simple assault, harassment, and criminal mischief. He was arraigned before DJ Carol Pankake, of Tremont, and committed to the county prison after failing to post $15,000 straight cash bail.

Troopers also reported on another arrest.

Also on Saturday, about 10 a.m. Sheila M. Snyder, 47, and Ryan C. O'Donnell, 22, both of Tower City, got involved in a verbal argument. The argument turned physical when O'Donnell produced and threw a plastic target holder at Snyder as she walked across N. Third St. The target struck her in the right ankle.

Troopers cited O'Donnell for harassment.
