BDWN to welcome guest speaker at August meeting

Published July 16. 2012 05:01PM

Jessica Lech, a member of the Actors' Guild of Schuylkill County, will be the guest speaker at the Black Diamond Writer's Network on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St., Tamaqua.

Lech will offer advice how writers can correctly identify, capture and write dialect that will impact their character's story. Participants will learn how to develop their character's authentic voice and the importance dialogue has on a character's story.

Lech studied theater arts at Wilkes University. She currently lives in Minersville with her fiancé and daughter, where she performs with the Actors' Guild. Some of her favorite dialect roles have included Mary Bennet in "Pride and Prejudice;" and as an urchin in the "Roar of the Greasepaint."

The meeting will run from 10 a.m. to noon, and be followed by a brief critique session for those interested in sharing some of their work, or a roundtable discussion. The meeting is free and open to the public.
