American Red Cross Bloodmobile returns to Tamaqua

Published July 16. 2012 05:01PM

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will return to Tamaqua on Wednesday, July 18. The Tamaqua Salvation Army gym will be turned into a blood collection center, which will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good general health is eligible to donate blood. A mini health history will be done at the time of donation to further determine eligibility status.

The blood supply across the United States has reached critically low levels. While there is a shortage of all blood types, there is an emergency need for O negative, O positive, A negative and A positive blood types.

This visit is being sponsored by City Limits Bakery of Tamaqua. All donors will receive a coupon for a free carton of Friendly's ice cream.
