Tamaqua police kept busy by shoplifters
Tamaqua Police spent a lot of time at the Family Dollar Store, 137 N. Railroad St. lately, arresting three shoplifters in one day, July 11.
Officers were first dispatched to the retail store at 1:05 p.m., after Tonya Nicole Braun, 21, of 345 E. Union St., Tamaqua, allegedly took a package of Emerson earbuds and placed them in her pants. When confronted by store personnel, Braun returned the item, valued at $5.
She was cited for retail theft, for which she has a prior conviction.
At 2:59 p.m., officers returned to the store to deal with Ashanti Keesee, 25, of 18 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua. Keesee allegedly tried to remove a pair of slippers from the store without paying for them.
She was cited for retail theft.
Officers returned to the store at 4:20 p.m. after Carolina Robles, 21, of 118 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, entered the store and attempted to take a package of Ramen noodles, valued at $1, by placing them in her purse. She was cited for retail theft.
