Tamaqua woman cited for theft

A Tamaqua woman has been cited following an incident at the Family Dollar Store, 137 N. Railroad St., on Tuesday, July 10.

Police were dispatched to the store at 1:50 p.m. for a shop lifting incident in which the suspect was causing a disturbance. Upon arrival officers were told the suspect had fled after being confronted by an employee but had left behind her purse, containing her identification.

In addition to the identification the purse contained number of items, valued at $17, which had been removed from the store's shelves.

When confronted by police, the suspect, identified as April Lynn Miller, 34, of 4 Cherry St., admitted stealing the items. This will be her second retail theft offense on record.
