Salvation Army seeks open gym volunteers

Published July 13. 2012 05:01PM

Major Sharon Whispell is looking for 3 to 5 community members (ages 18 and up) who are able to volunteer two or more hours a week at the Tamaqua Salvation Army providing supervision to youth playing in the gymnasium.

Whispell stated, "The open gym provides a safe and fun place for kids to hang out when school is over." Dina Depos, programs director, added, "Open gym times can be made to fit the hours of the volunteers, although fixed times are always best."

If you are a community member in good standing and can volunteer, call the Salvation Army at (570) 668-0410 Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or call (570) 668-1234 anytime.
