A New York state driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Joseph Ferrara, 51, of Staten Island, was stopped at a DUI checkpoint set up along SR715, near Possinger Road, in Jackson Township, about 10:20 p.m. on July 7.

Troopers said Ferrara initially failed to stop at the checkpoint and traveled through it at an unsafe speed.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

Troopers said DUI and other traffic offenses will be filed against Ferrara.
