The Shepherd House Food Pantry at Ebenezer E.C. Church will be open on Saturday, July 14 from 9-11 a.m. Recipients must reside within the Jim Thorpe Area School District. The pantry is located at 441 Center Ave. in Jim Thorpe.

Thank you to the community for your continued donations to the bin in the Jim Thorpe Market. Last month donations helped the food pantry provide food to over 90 families in need. Those who are unable to help by donating food, please considering volunteering your time by helping unload food deliveries, organizing the shelves, or distributing the food.
The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help with the visits of the bloodmobile. If you are interested in giving a few hours to help with this worthy cause, please call Judy Smith, (570) 325-3843.
National Night Out
The Jim Thorpe Community Watch, in conjunction with the Jim Thorpe Police Department, will host its first National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 6-10 p.m. This is a joint community effort to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and see what services your local law enforcement, emergency, civic and nonprofit groups provide.
There will be music provide by ADD, guest speakers, information booths, food, games, and much more. If your group would like to be a part of this special night please call (570) 778-5828 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no fee to participate.
Penn Forest Township
The Penn Forest Township Planning Commission will meet on July 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the municipal building. The regular board of supervisors meeting is scheduled for Aug. 6 at 7 p.m.
