A Schuylkill County woman was jailed earlier this week following a domestic incident with her husband in which she allegedly stabbed him with a knife.

State police at Frackville said Tammy Lee Young, 48, of 4 St. Clair St., Middleport, was arrested following an incident that occurred at her residence about 4:20 p.m. on Monday, July 9.

Troopers said Young and her husband, James Keating, 49, got involved in a verbal argument that escalated to physicial contact. During the argument Young slapped Keating on the back of the head. She then went to the kitchen and retrieved a pearing knife and began waving it Keating.

When Keating put his hands up in front of his face Young stabbed him in the palm of his right hand. The wound required medical attention and Keating was treated and released at a Pottsville area hospital.

Young was apprehended without incident and charged with aggravated and simple assault, and harassment. She was arraigned before District Judge James Ferrier, of Pottsville, and committed to the county prison after failing to post $10,000 straight cash bail.
