Published July 11. 2012 05:01PM

The Lehighton Band will present the second "Concert Under The Stars" for the 2012 season on Thursday, July 12, in the Lehighton Park Amphitheater.

The concert will start at 8 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

The concert will begin with a lively march by Henry Fillmore; "Symbol Of Honor."

This will be followed by one of the great standards of concert band music, Gustov Holst's "First Suite In E Flat."

Since these concerts are around Independence Day, the band will play two medleys of patriotic tunes: "Patriotic Pageantry" and "The Fourth Of July."

At this year's summer concerts, the band is featuring our recent high school graduates.

At this concert, Cassie Snyder will play a clarinet duet along with Raymond Hontz titled "A Flower Duet" by Leo Delibes and Zach Kobal plays the baritone horn solo, "Jabberwocky" by Harold Walters.

On the more popular side, the band will play a medley of Beatles tunes entitled "The Symphonic Beatles" and a number called "Pop And Rock Legends: The Mamas And The Papas."

As always at a Lehighton Band Concert, marches will play a prominate role. On the program for this concert will be two Karl King marches: "Hawkeye Fair' and "The Footlifter."

In case of inclement weather, the Lehighton concert will be held in the Boys and Girls Band Hall, Sixth and Cypress streets in Lehighton.

The music for these concerts is sponsored by businesses, professional people and music lovers from throughout the Carbon County area.
