Break-in, theft incident probed

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County residence and a reported identity theft incident.

Troopers said the residence at 704 Ann St., Norwegian Township, was forcibly entered by pulling a locked screen off a door. Once inside the criminals searched through multiple boxes and belongings. Removed was a undetermined amount of tools and property. The home is unoccupied and owned by Brian Geier, 39, of Pottsville, troopers said. The incident occurred sometime between June 9 and July 9.

The identity theft involved Lisa Mae Michelcavage, 45, of 1478 Sunbury Rd., Pottsville, Foster Township. She reported someone used her Social Security number to file a false income tax return claim. The incident occurred sometime between Jan. 1 and Feb. 20, troopers said.
