Jim Thorpe man charged with posting photos of ex-girlfriend on pornographic websites
A Jim Thorpe man is in trouble with the law after police in Montgomery County say he posted naked pictures of his ex-girlfriend on pornographic websites.
Lower Merion police got involved with the case in May of 2011 when a Lower Merion Township woman contacted investigators and told them she had just learned that naked photos of her had been posted online without her permission. According to police reports, John Kane and the woman had an on and off sexual relationship over the previous six years.
She admitted to allowing him to use his cell phone to take naked photos of her. The woman told police that an unknown person told her by email that someone was giving out her name and email address and posing as her on Internet chat rooms. She told police that she contacted Kane and he admitted to posting the material.
In December of last year the woman reported to police that a co-worker informed her that there were naked photos of her on Internet porn sites. Lower Merion police searched Kane's computer and reported finding six email messages that were sent from his computer that had naked photos of the woman. Police also reported finding evidence on the computer that Kane had accessed the two Internet sites where the photos had been posted.
Kane is being charged with 20 felony counts of unlawful use of a computer, 14 counts of identity theft and six counts of possessing, distributing and transmitting obscene materials of a person over the age of 18. He is also being charged with stalking and harassment.
According to records, Kane was released last week on $7,500 of unsecured bail.
