Vehicle stop leads to drug charges

A vehicle stop along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, has led to drug charges against the driver.

State police at Fern Ridge said a 17-year-old juvenile from East Stroudsburg, was stopped on Wednesday, July 4, about 6:30 p.m. while westbound. At the stop troopers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in marijuana, packaged for sale, found inside.

The teen was placed under arrest for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. It was further learned the teen was under probation by the county juvenile probation office, which was notified. He was then turned over the sheriff's department.
