Three are arrested for thefts in Mahoning
Three individuals have been charged with retail theft in separate incidents by Mahoning Township police.
• Carol Rex of Lansford has been charged with retail theft. Police say that on June 15, while working as a cashier at the Lehighton Walmart store, she under-rang items during four separate transactions defrauding the store of $148.61.
• A female juvenile from Lehighton has been charged with retail theft. On July 2, she allegedly concealed makeup valued at $24 inside of her purse and left the store without purchasing the items.
• On May 2, Nikki Rehrig of Lehighton allegedly removed a diamond necklace offered for sale by the Hallmark Store in the Carbon Plaza Mall. She failed to pay for the item, and a felony charge of retail theft was filed. On July 5, Rehrig turned herself in the office of District Judge Edward Lewis in Jim Thorpe. She waived her right a preliminary hearing.
On July 5, at Mahoning Township Police, and Pennsylvania State Parole Agents apprehended a male that had absconded from a halfway house while on state parole. The male, identified as Gerald Antonio Pinheiro of Hazleton, was found hiding under a pile of clothes inside a closet at 1340 Mahoning Drive East, Rear, Lehighton.
