Spartan Kids race to feature mud, climbing and lots of fun
Now this is the kind of stuff kids dream about.
Welcome to a world where kids are actually encouraged to run through the woods, get dirty and climb over things.
Spartan Kids are headed to the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton on July 14 and 15, where 4-13 year olds will run in their very own mud obstacle race.
The Spartan Kids race, which begins at noon, is the ultimate kid-friendly obstacle course that consists of 10 to 20 challenges. It features obstacles such as mud pits, tunnel crawls and balance beams with a half mile race for Junior Spartans.
Kids will enjoy the thrill of the run, a variety of scaled down obstacles and their own mini-festival area; filled with games. The mission is to inspire children to develop a love for fitness at an early age.
Each child who participates will receive a T-shirt and Finisher's Medal with 100-percent of the Jr. Spartan Adventure proceeds benefiting the Kids Fit Foundation. Spartan Race and Kids Fit Foundation teamed up this year to encourage youth to become more active and live healthier, happier lives.

Kids Fit National Spokespeople and mother and son duo, Dan and Jackie Evans, are best known for their participation on season five of NBC's hit reality show, "The Biggest Loser". The pair lost a combined total of 225 pounds.
"I love being a part of the Spartan Kids races," Dan Evans said. "Along with the adults, it's so great to see these young kids having so much fun racing and being active. I wish I started racing at an early age because it's all about prevention."
The Kids Fit Foundation is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to funding and providing health and fitness programs for youth and their families. Through its health and fitness programs and events, the Kids Fit Foundation inspires children to develop a love for fitness at an early age. Adults will also race in the second annual Spartan Sprint, a one-mile race which is comprised of four hilly miles of challenging obstacles that will be held both days from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Valley Lodge.
