A Pottsville man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and identity theft after he committed a traffic violation in Summit Hill.

According to Summit Hill police, on Dec. 3, at 10:31 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, driven by Matthew Luke Leonard, 43, of 403 W. Arch St.An investigation re vealed that Leonard did not have a driver's license. He was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.Leonard provided the officer with false information about his identity.After discovering Leonard's real identity, he was charged with identity theft, false reports to law enforcement, unsworn false identity to authorities, false identity to law authorities, driving under the influence of alcohol, drivers required to be licensed, driving while license suspended or revoked, and general lighting requirements.
