Kidder Township store is target of armed robbery
LARRY NEFF/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS Police probe an armed robbery at the Wawa convenience story in Kidder Township Sunday evening.
Another area mini mart fell victim to an armed robber.
Kidder Township police said the Wawa store, located along SR940, near Exit 95 of the turnpike, was robbed about 10:07 p.m. Sunday by an armed suspect.
Police said a white male, wearing a red ski mask, entered the store and brandished a semi-automatic weapon. He made off with several hundred dollars in cash.
He was last seen leaving the store on foot.
A further description of the suspect given by police stated he was five-feet, 10-inches to six feet tall, wearing a black North Face jacket with gray shoulders, faded jeans and boots.
The incident is the latest in a series of robberies at area mini marts. The last was on Thursday night, Jan. 26, at the Fegley Mini Mart off SR309 (Kennedy Drive) in McAdoo. In that incident, the suspect was also wearing a red ski mask. He also had on battered-style loose-fitting blue jeans, light or tan colored boots and a black hooded jacket.
Other robberies were reported in Nesquehoning and Tamaqua.
