State police at the Frackville barracks said a Mahanoy City woman escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash Jan. 21 at 7 a.m. on State Rt. 54 in Mahanoy Township.

Police said Odilia Tovar-Zamudio, 33, was driving a 1998 Lincoln Navigator eastbound between Shenandoah and Mahanoy City when she lost control of it while traveling downhill near Patriot Hill. Police said the vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a ditch in which there were several rocks. The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damages.

Police said the woman did not contact police about the crash and arranged for a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the scene. Police said they learned the tow truck had three Vehicle Code violations, resulting in the owner of the truck being cited and Tovar-Zamudio being cited for four traffic violations.
