'Soil to Spoon' theme for poster contest of Conservation District

Published January 19. 2012 05:01PM

The Carbon County Conservation District is again holding its annual poster contest, open to any student in the county.

There are five grade categories: K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. This year's poster contest theme is from NACD Stewardship Week, "Soil to Spoon."

The contest offers young people an opportunity to express their views on natural resource issues through the medium of art.

Students' submissions are judged in categories according to creativity, simplicity, clarity of message, and quality in relation to grade level.

Prizes are awarded locally, with the opportunity for the winning posters to advance to the state and national levels.

The contest is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts and the National Association of Conservation Districts.

Entries must be received at the Carbon Conservation District Office, 5664 Interchange Road, Lehighton, by the deadline of 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 15.

For more information, contact your local school or the Carbon Conservation District at (610) 377-4894, ext. 4.
