One vehicle sustained what police called "heavy damages" in a crash on Jan. 17 at 11 p.m. on State Rt. 893 in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Travis Garris, 22, of Andreas, was driving a 2006 Sabaru Impreza eastbound on Rt. 895 when it encountered patches/areas of ice on the roadway (black ice), causing him to lose control of the vehicle. It exited the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Police said Garris was uninjured. The vehicle required towing from the scene.
