Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Published January 18. 2012 05:02PM

A traffic stop in Tamaqua led to drug charges for an Allentown man on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Officer Peter Wysochansky was on patrol in the area of High Street, near the Lehigh Carbon Community College campus, when he observed a green Dodge Stratus with a malfunctioning brake light. The officer stopped the vehicle with the intention of issuing a warning, but discovered the driver had a suspended license.

Joseph Muse, 22, of 506 W. Chew St., admitted to not having a license but said he was driving because his girlfriend/passenger was unfamiliar with the area. The friend was identified as Tracy Ann Morey, 41, of Slatington.

A records check indicated Morey's license was valid.

When Morey exited the vehicle it became apparent she was in an intoxicated condition. A search of the vehicle and its occupants turned up a glass pipe and a bag of suspected marijuana on the driver's side floor with another glass pipe in the console.

Charges include possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
