Schuylkill County man jailed on rape, related counts in Lehighton incidents
A Schuylkill County man was jailed last week on rape and related counts for incidents that allegedly occurred in Lehighton.
Borough police said Lawrence Danforth, 26, of 319 Market Square, Apt. 19, Pottsville, was arrested on Jan. 11 and arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis, of Jim Thorpe. He is charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors.
He was committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post $75,000 straight cash bail.
Police said the alleged incidents occurred in two different locations in the borough between 2008 and 2010. The victim was between the age of six and nine-years-old, police said.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 4:15 p.m. before Lewis.
