Monroe County Waste Authority will remove, dispose of dead deer

Published January 17. 2012 05:01PM

The Monroe County Waste Authority has finalized an agreement for pickup, removal and disposal of deer from the county's roadways.

The authority will act as the county's agent/contractor under a preexisting agreement with the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation until the Waste Authority can become a direct party with the other agencies.

The goal is to make the collection process more efficient utilizing the authority's waste management experience and expertise while at the same time providing financial savings to the county.

To report a dead deer needing to be picked up and properly disposed, call the Waste Authority at 570-643-6100, go to the website at "" or call the toll free number at 888-502-6055.
