Lions District 14U names its Leo of the Year

Pleasant Valley graduate Meredith Thomas of Gilbert has received a singular honor. She was named the Lions District 14U Leo of the Year for the 2010-2011 Lions Year.

The daughter of Dale Thomas of Gilbert and Mark Thomas of Tannersville, a current freshman at Marywood University, was recognized at a Western Pocono Lions Club board meeting since Immediate Past District Governor Bob Kelsey is a member of that club, the host club for the Pleasant Valley Leo Club. He was joined in recognizing the English Literature major by Lions Club president Charles Rush and PDG Bob Argot, also members of the Western Pocono Lions Club.

When Thomas is not at the university, she shares, "I work part-time as a library aide at Western Pocono Community Library."

In regard to her involvement in the PVHS Leo Club, which she served as club president her senior year at PVHS, Thomas adds, "I loved being in the LEO Club. Although we were one of the smaller organizations in high school, we were all close-knit; therefore, everyone's voice was able to be heard. I enjoyed helping with the community and participating in numerous activities at the high school with the LEO Club."

Not only are the local Lions proud of her, but so is her grandmother, Mariellen DuVal of Gilbert, as well as the rest of the family.
