Cases of four defendants held over for criminal court

Four defendants failed to appear for their preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua last week and had their cases held over for trial in the next session of criminal court in Schuylkill County.

Samantha M. Gonzalez, 23, and Ryan Anthony Petrulsky, 23, both of Freeland, were held over for court on charges stemming from a Dec. 5, 2011, incident. Gonzalez was charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit retail theft, while Petrulsky was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.

The charges were filed by Rush Township Patrolman Corey Herring.

John Jones, 30, of 104 Schuylkill Ave., Tamaqua, will face court trial on charges of theft by unlawful taking. He was charged by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods following an Aug. 19, 2009, incident.

Wendy M. Ritzko, 51, of 312 E. Abbott St., Lansford, had charges of theft of leased property held over for court trial. The charges stem from a July 01, 2011, incident and were filed by Rush Township Sgt. Duane Frederick.

Travis Cheslock, 37, of Junedale, Luzerne County, remains lodged in the county prison, Pottsville, unable to post the $25,000 bail that was set after he was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and receiving stolen property. Cheslock was charged with the offenses on Dec. 5, 2011, and the arresting officer is Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods.

Timothy M. Dunstan, 41, of 210 E. Patterson St., Lansford, waived a hearing on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, stemming from a Nov. 12, 2011, incident. A charge of operating a vehicle without a valid license was withdrawn by arresting officer Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Houser.

Dunstan was released on his own recognizance.
