A Schuylkill County man was jailed on theft and related charges after he allegedly stole credit cards from a relative he was living with and made purchases of more than $15,000.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Michael Workman Jr., 23, of Pine Grove, turned himself into troopers on Monday, Jan. 9. He is charged with theft, forgery, identity theft and other related charges. He was arraigned before District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $15,000 straight cash bail.

Troopers said he took the credit cards of Gerald Workman, 72, with whom he resided, and during the period of April to July 2011, used the cards to make purchases of over $15,000 at various busineses throughout the county.
