Pocono Mountain Regional police reported the arrest of a Monroe County man for domestic assault for incidents that occurred on New Years Day.

Police said they were called to the residence of Amber Bartholomew, 22, and he boyfriend, Luis Merced Jr., 28, of 5427 Dorchester Road, in Tobyhanna, about 4:33 a.m. for a domestic dispute. On scene Bartholomew told officers that she and Merced were involved in a physical altercation. He was intoxicated and left the residence prior to the arrival of police.At 5:57 a.m. officers called back to the home to a report of Merced being out of control and damaging the home.On scene officers took Merced into custody and charged him with simple assault and harassment. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.Bartholomew sustained injuries in the incident but refused medical attention, police added.
