Jim Thorpe police have arrested Toni M. Shistle, 21, of New Philadelphia, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the incident happened at 2:10 a.m. Nov. 20, 2011, along Susquehanna Street in the borough.

Police said they observed a blue Toyota sedan on the south lane shoulder of the road (Route 209) with its brake lights on and the vehicle running. Upon approaching the vehicle, police said they observed the driver and passenger switch seats.

Police said Shistle, who had been the driver, told them she pulled over and switched seats because she had to vomit.

Police said she showed signs of intoxication and subsequently failed sobriety tests that were administered to her. She submitted to a chemical test of her blood, which showed a level of .096, resulting in the charge.
