Woman is injured in Rt. 222 crash
Denise L. Norman, 60, of Wescosville, was injured in a two-vehicle crash Dec. 27, at 4:14 p.m., along Route 222 in Lower Macungie Township, according to state police at the Fogelsville barracks.
Police said she was removed from her vehicle via mechanical means by the Lower Macungie Township Fire Department and transported by the Cetronia EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, to be treated for injuries, the severity of which, police said, are unknown.
The accident happened when a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Latteshia White, 21, of Allentown, lost traction on the wet roadway and left the lane of travel, exiting the lane and striking the rear driver's side of a 2011 Ford Escape, driven by Norman. Police said both vehicles rotated about 290 degrees clockwise and struck the guard railing on the right side of the roadway.
Police said the Jetta slid 15 more feet before coming to a stop while the Escape overturned before sliding about 10 feet and coming to a halt.
Police said White will be cited for causing the accident.
