Hluschak was one of six wrestlers compete in the 79th annual "Rose Bowl of Wrestling".

He made the final with a 9-3 decision over Trevor Melde of Rutgers, a two-time NCAA Division I national qualifier. He fell to Lock Haven freshman Daniel Neff, 11-3, in the championship bout. Neff previously won the Clarion Knight Point Open in November and was a high school state champion last year.

Hluschak won his opening bout with a 5-4 decision over Danny O'Malley (Maryland) and had a 10-0 major decision of Tyler Chesney (Pitt-Johnstown) in the quarterfinals. He had dropped his first two career meetings with Melde in 2010-11 and had a medical forfeit victory over Melde in the ESU Open this season.
