Campaign promise of open door fulfilled

Published February 25. 2012 09:01AM

Entrance into the Schuylkill County Commissioners quarters at the courthouse in Pottsville is now open to the public. Locks installed by the past board of commissioners were removed Thursday afternoon, it was reported by Commissioner George Halcovich.

Halcovich and Chairman Frank Staudenmeier had campaigned for an open door for the public to the commissioners' department and the campaign promise Halcovich said has been fulfilled.

Previously a person who came to the door had to ring the bell and identify himself over a microphone and state his business and whom he wanted to see before gaining admittance.

Now all a person has to do is walk up to the door, open it and walk in and they are greeted with a big smile by the receptionist, "Tish" Hotsko.
