A transformer failure knocked out power to 83 PPL customers in Mahoning Township Friday morning, likely making for many a late appearance at work or school.

PPL spokesman Rich Beasley said the transformer at Semmels Hill Road failed at about 5:30 a.m. By 8:30 a.m., power to all but 13 customers had been restored. Beasley believed all customers would have electricity again by 11 a.m.
