Carbon teen facing charges

A Carbon County teen is facing charges following an incident on Dec. 31, 2017, at 11:53 p.m.

State police at Lehighton responded to a location on Ashtown Drive, in Mahoning Township, Carbon County, for a verbal altercation that had turned physical. Troopers said a 42-year-old man from Lehighton sustained minor injuries to his hand in the incident. While responding to the incident troopers were told the 19-year-old male suspect, from Lehighton, had made threats to shoot the victim with a rifle.

On scene the rifle was found and secured by troopers. The teen was taken into custody and charges were approved by the district attorney’s office. The investigation also revealed that the 42-year-old had furnished the teen with alcohol at the residence. The teen was lodged in the county prison. The investigation is continuing.
