Officer receives two commendations for role in solving rash of robberies

Published February 22. 2012 05:01PM

Tamaqua and McAdoo Police Patrolman Robert Minnick received two commendations this week for his part in solving a rash of armed robberies in a tri-county area. The commendations were presented by McAdoo Chief of Police Jeff Wainwright and Tamaqua Police Chief Dave Mattson. Minnick was on patrol in Tamaqua on Feb. 5 when he observed a vehicle similar to one used in an armed robbery in McAdoo, which had no license plate. Minnick's attempted vehicle stop led to a high speed chase through Tamaqua, Coaldale and Lansford before it ended in Nesquehoning. A passenger in the vehicle, Tysheed Hargrove, faces charges in at least 15 armed robberies that occurred in Schuylkill, Carbon and Luzerne Counties. As for the commendation, Minnick modestly noted "the arrests were made possible through the joint efforts of many law enforcement agencies."
