Vanessa Evans named Guiding Star for February

The Concourse Club of Palmerton selected Vanessa Tercias Evans at the Guiding Star for February.
The senior at Palmerton Area High School is a member of the Student Council, Leo Club, Environmental Club, Yearbook, FBLA and National Honor Society.
Vanessa participates in field hockey, track and is the wrestling manager.
She is a talented artist and has shown several pieces of her art work in oils, charcoal sketches and a piece of sculpture at the Concourse Club's February meeting.
Her interests and hobbies include oil painting, shading, sculpting and going for long runs. She also enjoys kayaking with her dad and brother, as well as doing puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
Her community activities include Relay for Life, Angel 34 program for children with cancer, and also helping with the Miller Keystone Blood Drive at Palmerton Area High School.
Vanessa's summer job is life guarding and teaching swimming lessons at the Palmerton memorial Park Swimming Pool.
Her future plans are to attend Temple University to earn a degree in biology. She hopes to continue her education in medical school.
Vanessa is the daughter of Brian and Adele Evans of Palmerton. She has a brother, Joshua. She says that her personal guiding stars would be her family and grandparents, who instilled in her to work hard and get a quality education. She credits her teachers and coaches for inspiring her and motivation her to try many new things, and perform to her best ability.
