Tamaqua man facing drug counts

A Tamaqua man faces drug-related charges after a search warrant was executed at his apartment on Feb. 2.

Rush Township and Tamaqua police were at 115 W. Rowe St. at 12:45 p.m. to execute a warrant issued to township police in connection with an earlier case.

Once inside the apartment of Andrew M. McGuinness officers found a metal grinder with green vegetable matter, a cloth bag with suspected marijuana residue, rolling papers, glass pipes with burnt residue, plastic bags with vegetable matter and also a black film container containing vegetable matter. The material was field tested and determined to be marijuana.

Patrolman Michael Hobbs charged McGuinness with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
